Olderhill German Shepherds - South Africa

All our pups are born in our house and stay there for the first three weeks. It gets very crowded sometimes! but at least that prevents puppies from getting squashed by their mothers. It's also a good start for the pups to have close contact with us. They are very aware of their surroundings from birth. For example, we often put each of the pups on a teat so that no-one misses out on a meal, and already in their first few days they learn to recognize our smell and come to our hands for food. Between 2 and 3 weeks they start leaving their 'nest' to go to the toilet on newspaper. When they move out of our house they go into thatched-roofed houses with grass and sand runs outside and blankets and newspaper inside. From about 4 weeks we give them toys to play with and have play sessions with them.
When we train them they can do fetching and sit and down and stand on command at 6 weeks, find hidden toys at 7 weeks, and do tracking by 8 weeks. Teaching them is really easy and takes less than 5 minutes a day. (See puppy training.) We deworm our pups from 2 weeks of age and continue every second week until they're 12 weeks. They are vaccinated at 5,  8 and 12 weeks. To protect them from distemper between 9 and 12 weeks, which ordinary vaccines don't, we give them a measles and distemper vaccine.

Legendary K9

Legendary K9
We are dedicated to excellence both in ourselves and in our dogs. That is why we choose imported stud dogs and breeding female dogs from the top Czech and East German DDR working bloodlines in the world. We breed to bring out that combination of natural courage and strength with natural German Shepherd working traits in each litter. Our German Shepherds are excellent stereotypes, in both constitution (structure) and pigmentation. Our Superb Working Line Pedigrees represent the Finest Working Bloodlines from the Czech Republic, Slovakia & DDR.
All of the dogs in our breeding program have "dobry" (good) body conformation, strong bones, good pigmentation and strong health. They are also significant for their high food drive, high working drives and early working maturity. The selection of our stud dogs and females is based on their solid nerves and ability plus willingness to protect their territory. We look forward to helping you.

K-9 German Shepherds

Law Enforcement K-9 German Shepherds or K9 is an abbreviation and homophone of Canine. It may refer to a variety of entries, most related to dogs.
The term originated in the military, where designations such as G-2 are common, making K-9 a rare official pun, being similar to "canine".
The term, originally referencing war dogs, has since carried over to police, and sentry and assistance/service dogs as well.
Police dogs are in widespread use across the United States. K-9 units are operated on the federal, state, county, and local level and are utilized for a wide variety of duties, similar to those of other nations. Although most Americans perceive these animals as attack dogs, their duties generally include drug, bomb, and weapon detection and cadaver searches. The most common police dogs used for everyday duties are German Shepherds, though other breeds may be used to perform specific tasks.
