As in previous years, Our goal has always been to produce a German shepherd blood line of top quality, soundness, intelligence, and temperament, plus a great drive.

We do not and will not mass produce puppies. We only have a few select German shepherd litters a year, striving only for quality. We spend many, many hours with the puppies socializing, interacting, handling, and observing each litter.

Von Rief German Shepherd Breeders currently have happy, healthy German Shepherd puppies for sale in Colorado. The family-owned-and-operated breeder, located in Colorado Springs, meets all of the CO breeder licensing requirements and is an American Kennel Club (AKC) inspected facility.

Von Rief’s German Shepherds have high levels of trainability, suitable for Schutzhund, AKC agility, obedience and other ring sports. Each German Shepherd used in the breeding program has had their hips and elbows either OFA or SV certified. For our litters bred in the United States, Von Rief German Shepherds requires at least one dog in each breeding pair to be tested and clear from degenerative myelopathy. This ensures that those puppies are not at risk for degenerative myelopathy.

Our Mission and Adoption Policy

Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of San Diego is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned German Shepherds. Your tax deductible donations go to support these very deserving animals.

Coastal is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future.

We are committed to finding loving permanent homes for the Orphaned dogs in our care. Coastal is an all volunteer, no-kill, non profit organization.

Our mission is to educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership. We also raise awareness of over population of animals through education, training, spaying and neutering. We work very hard to match each dog with the adoptive families.

All prospective adoptive families must complete an on line application followed by a telephone interview and then receive a home visit before a German Shepherd is placed in their forever home.
