Majic Forest Shepherds is a Utah long coat German Shepherd breeder of high-quality, West German bloodlines. I breed standard, plush and long coat shepherds and produce all levels of energy drives. Medium for the average family wanting a calm and easy dog and high for the sport enthusiast looking to do SAR and Schutzhund work.

 

Puppies are put through a complete series of temperament tests at seven weeks of age to evaluate their temperament and energy level for their new homes and owners. Each puppy is carefully placed to ensure a successful match that makes everybody happy.

 

When breeding, I only select healthy, beautiful dogs with sound temperaments and proven pedigrees. I carefully evaluate how each breeding pair will compliment each other to ensure only their very best qualities are passed on to maintain the exceptional European German Shepherd standard.

I am dedicated to breeding and raising quality German Shepherds for companionship and workability. My number one goal is to provide you with your ideal dog.

I am breeding and training a TOTAL, balanced German Shepherd Dog; one that can demonstrate correct temperament through working tests and/or the sport of Schutzhund, one that has correct structure and is striking to behold.... These are GERMAN shepherds. Every country has their own interpretation of the Standard, but we follow the German standard. My goal is to breed dogs that can be shown in the SV style show ring and be a fun sport dog, a companion, and a dog that exemplifies the beauty and structural soundness of the breed, all at the same time. I breed dogs that are easy to live with, reliable, and can be easily trained, even by a novice. In short, this is a dog anyone should be happy to own. I closely adhere to the German program (as outlined by the SV and the FCI breed standard.) as a guideline for breeding & use V, VA, KKL1 (Class One) West German breeding stock to the extent possible.  I do not use dogs with the hip or elbow ratings of a3 (noch zugelassen), German translation "still acceptable" for breeding. You'll also notice that my dogs and those I use for breeding have ZW (breed value) numbers in the 70's.  (The lower the number the better hip production can be anticipated.)  I have learned over the years that many of the so called "top breeders" are often willing to compromise health and temperament for a top rating in the breed ring. Beauty and structure are important to me, but I don't choose that at the expense of good health and solid temperament.  I have many repeat clients, some even with 3 GSDs from me!  I am always willing to refer those interested in my dogs to a client in their area of the country as a reference.

We are a small family operated and owned kennel focusing the majority of our time on our dogs. As dog trainers first we feel it is of utmost importance to get a puppy off to the right start from the day they are born. We have a puppy program we put our litters through to encourage confidence, build up the ability to handle stress, and expose them to as many different surfaces and obstacles as we can. This creates a very well rounded puppy making for a fantastic candidate in a working home, or as an active companion for a family.

We choose to keep our kennel small to ensure we dedicate as much time as we need to each individual puppy as well as our adults. We train and title all of our dogs ourselves to gain a complete understanding of what our dogs have to offer to our breeding program. Breeding only a select few litters a year allows us the ability to evaluate puppies as they grow so we can match puppy and buyer for complete compatibility. With the small amount of litters, this means we may not always have puppies available. We choose to keep a waiting list to be called when puppies are born, and deposits to be placed on puppies for a place in line.

Deutsche Schäferhunde – von den Wannaer Höhen - Germany

Seit 1984 wird im Zwinger “von den Wannaer Höhen” gezüchtet. In dieser Zeit haben wir versucht gesunde, leistungsfähige und anatomisch ansprechende Gebrauchshunde zu züchten.

Dass man es erwähnen muss, gesunde Hunde zu züchten, ist vom Grundsatz her schon sehr schlimm! Die Realität zeigt jedoch, dass es ein immer größer werdendes Problem ist, einen gesunden, vitalen und langlebigen Gebrauchshund zu züchten.

In Zukunft wird die Gesundheit ein immer mehr zu berücksichtigender Faktor sein. Wir glauben jedoch, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind, da mehrere in unserem Zwinger gezüchtete Hunde schon über Jahre hinweg auf höchster Ebene im Leistungssport geführt wurden und somit auch extremen körperlichen Belastungen gewachsen sind.

Unsere Zuchterfolge!

Bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt wurden mehr als 20 “Wannaer Höhen” – Hunde auf nahezu 100 Landesausscheidungsprüfungen geführt (9 dieser Hunde waren bereits Landessieger oder Sieger der FCI-Bundesqualifikation).

Auf ca. 20 Bundessiegerprüfungen wurden Hunde aus unserem Zwinger geführt. Einige Hunde wurden auf Internationalen Diensthundeführermeisterschaften erfolgreich vorgeführt. Auch im Bereich der Bundeszollverwaltung konnten sich unsere Hunde gut behaupten und waren vielfach Sieger in den jeweiligen Oberfinanzdirektionen.

Auf den großen Schauveranstaltungen sind Hunde aus unserem Zwinger nicht zu finden, da in den letzten Jahren m. E. das Erscheinungsbild des Deutschen Schäferhundes stark von dem Körperbau eines leistungsfähigen Gebrauchshundes abweicht, und auch der Gründer des SV bei der Festlegung des Rassestandards sich sicherlich ein anderes Erscheinungsbild vorstellte.

Wir werden jedoch auch weiterhin versuchen, den gesunden, nervenstarken, triebvollen Gebrauchshund zu erhalten und evtl. zu verbessern, damit auch noch nachfolgende Generationen Freude an der Zucht und Ausbildung dieser wunderbaren Rasse haben.

Here at vom Haus am Lerchenweg we have a specific breeding program that enables us to produce a German Shepherd that is not only striking in beauty, bust also has intelligence and strength at heart.  We follow very closely with the goals of the founder of the German Shepherd, Max von Stephanitz, had in mind when he purchased the first German Shepherd in 1899 and started the SV.  Herr Stephanitz taught us that the best German Shepherd was the one bred to be the "Golden Middle", this was the dog with beauty intelligence the heart to protect his herd, family.  Herr Stephanitz was quoted once for saying:

We have been in business of German Shepherd breeding since 1999 beginning in California. We moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2006 continuing our strive for breeding the best of litters.Since moving to New Mexico, we have increased our dogs and built more dog runs to house them.

Once a litter is whelped, great care is taken for the mother and each of the pups. At 4 weeks they are all wormed and wormed again at 10 days later. At 6 weeks of age, the pups are all given their first shots. They are then sold at 8 weeks of age to very loving homes.

For the next one year to 18 months of the puppy's life, I will call you and check on the progress of the puppy to make sure that all is well and the puppy is healthy.
