Shepherds Weißer Hase German Shepherds is a small Family Owned Kennel located in Central Florida. The German Shepherd Dog has always been a part of my life. It wasn't until 2009 that I began training in the sport of Schutzhund.

Today, I am hooked. I am still learning how to train and that each dog is different. I hope to one day open my own training facility but have many dogs between here and there to train first.

Our Breeding goals are to produce dogs that can work, are confident and loyal, as well as beautiful and healthy. I know this can be accomplish with select breeding and training. And of course starting with excellent bloodlines.

We are located in Frederick County, Maryland.  We breed German Shepherds suitable for Schutzhund, Search & Rescue, Personal Protection, Agility, Nose-work & Scent Detection, Police work, and Family Companions. Our breeding goal is a beautiful dog with an excellent working ability.

We raise and train our dogs to the breed standard of the UK kennel club and the SV Germany, Some of our German Shepherds are and will be Schutzhund trained.  

We pay a lot of attention to detail in selecting top quality bitches and males to produce the correct type, construction, movement and temperament which is paramount to ourselves. We only use top quality dogs that have had all the relevant tests done so we don't inherit any genetic genes in our lines.

The AKC Standard says the German Shepherd "has a distinct personality marked by direct and fearless, but not hostile, expression, self-confidence, and a certain aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships. The dog must be approachable, quietly standing its ground and showing confidence and willingness to meet overtures without itself making them”.

That's a great description of an ideal German Shepherd.

When you're talking German Shepherd Dog maturity there are many factors involved.  Bone freeze occurs around 11 months.  There will be no more "growth" after that, but they will "fill out" until the age of 2 and some, beyond that.  In our experience, when they are 3, German Shepherd Dogs are mature mentally and should be considered an Adult.
