Our specialties are German Shepherds and Great Pyrenees with excellent health records and temperaments. These puppies make perfect family pets. All of our puppies are raised in our home with lots of love and attention. They can be picked up or shipped at 8 weeks of age.  We are an AKC inspected and Nebraska State Licensed kennel. Our puppies are sold to private approved homes only.

We are a small family operated and owned kennel focusing the majority of our time on our dogs. As dog trainers first we feel it is of utmost importance to get a puppy off to the right start from the day they are born. We have a puppy program we put our litters through to encourage confidence, build up the ability to handle stress, and expose them to as many different surfaces and obstacles as we can. This creates a very well rounded puppy making for a fantastic candidate in a working home, or as an active companion for a family.

We choose to keep our kennel small to ensure we dedicate as much time as we need to each individual puppy as well as our adults. We train and title all of our dogs ourselves to gain a complete understanding of what our dogs have to offer to our breeding program. Breeding only a select few litters a year allows us the ability to evaluate puppies as they grow so we can match puppy and buyer for complete compatibility. With the small amount of litters, this means we may not always have puppies available. We choose to keep a waiting list to be called when puppies are born, and deposits to be placed on puppies for a place in line.

When our puppies are placed into homes they come with AKC Registration, Pedigree, Microchip, Tattoo, Health Guarantee, Contract, Breeder support for the life of the dog, Puppy instructions on diet & training, and as many answers as you have questions!

Grixal German Shepherds is a family owned and run kennel, always aiming to breed quality dogs. The emphasis is on quality and not quantity.  Always trying to do our best to produce what in our opinion is the best for the breed, or in other words, to produce litters which are uniform in looks, size, bite, health and most importantly, temperament.  This does not occur by sheer coincidence.  Sometimes lady luck plays a major role more than any of us would like to admit.  We always try to do our best to our knowledge and leave the rest to nature.  Where breeding is concerned the most important issue that we look at, is not to mate dogs just to have a try.  We try to combine matings that in our opinion will lead to successful progeny.

My name is Thomas Sauerhoefer. I am a breeder of German Shepherds since 1980 in Germany. I am the President and founder of the Marysville Schutzhund Club, and a member of the SV in Germany, United Schutzhund Clubs of America, and the GSDCA-WDA.

 I came to America ten years ago from Germany. My goals are to help people obtain higher quality dogs through my breeding program and importing services and to offer the highest quality dogs for Schutzhund, show, family, and companion. I grew up with dogs all my life. When I was 10 our family got a wonderful boxer, and when I turned 16 we got a Rottweiler named Arko. A close friend of the family took him for schutzhund training because we needed a protection dog for our company. My interest and fascination with the sport of schutzhund took off. At age 18, I bought my first dog, a German Shepherd. I had fallen in love with the breed for their looks and intelligence.

 I started my career in Schutzhund and dog training with Vasko, a German Shepherd with working bloodlines. I titled Vasko to a SchH 3 in only one year and then I bought a female named Banja and titled her to a SchH 3 too. After I got her titles and breed survey, I bred Banja to Vasko and had my first litter of pups. I kept a male pup from this breeding and named him Kim. I trained Kim to a SchH 3. I bred three more litters with Banja, always with good results.

 One of the best training helpers in Germany was a member of my club and saw my love for the sport and talent for training dogs. He taught me everything about Schutzhund helper work. By the time I was 24, I started training dogs for other people, both working and show lines, because they also saw my talent for training.

Here at vom Haus am Lerchenweg we have a specific breeding program that enables us to produce a German Shepherd that is not only striking in beauty, bust also has intelligence and strength at heart.  We follow very closely with the goals of the founder of the German Shepherd, Max von Stephanitz, had in mind when he purchased the first German Shepherd in 1899 and started the SV.  Herr Stephanitz taught us that the best German Shepherd was the one bred to be the "Golden Middle", this was the dog with beauty intelligence the heart to protect his herd, family.  Herr Stephanitz was quoted once for saying:

"The breeder on a small scale, one who works with one or two bitches, is the most suitable breeder for working dogs because he can care for his breeding animals and their progeny... and can produce sound strong animals that can be trained"

vom Haus am Lerchenweg has taken this as to our number one rule for our breeding program.  We have been breeding German Shepherds since 1991 and have been fortunate enough to have produced VA dogs as well as dogs that have competed in the BSP.

We have three Bitches and will produce a litter or two/year.  we are small enough to give the care that is required to have a well-rounded and socialized puppy ready for a new home. We have been in business of German Shepherd breeding since 1999 beginning in California. We moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2006 continuing our strive for breeding the best of litters.Since moving to New Mexico, we have increased our dogs and built more dog runs to house them.

Once a litter is whelped, great care is taken for the mother and each of the pups. At 4 weeks they are all wormed and wormed again at 10 days later. At 6 weeks of age, the pups are all given their first shots. They are then sold at 8 weeks of age to very loving homes.

For the next one year to 18 months of the puppy's life, I will call you and check on the progress of the puppy to make sure that all is well and the puppy is healthy.

At vom Airmont, we selectively breed top German blood lines in order to produce puppies that are fit for family companionship, working ability, the show ring, agility, Search and Rescue, schutzhund, Police work, and Service Dog work. Our breeding program specifically aims to produce dogs with sound temperament, excellent health, and correct conformation.

We perform extensive temperament testing on our puppies to ensure the proper placement of each puppy with each family. Before going to their new homes, all of our puppies have started crate training, been de-wormed, and have received their first shot and a thorough health check by a veterinarian.

Our puppies are dual registered with both the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA).
